20 Dollars and 5 mins

After a quick run to the hardware store droping 20 bucks on fittings and pipe i got this

Its the start to a McWire Cartesian Bot v1.2 Its bigger then i thought it would be.
Had a hard time finding the right 3/4 3/4 u channel . So going to search for that in the morrning. I did find 1.5 angle 1/8 thick which i didn't think i could.

Now i need to cut out the decks. anyone know how thick each one should be, i check the bom, and the build. all i can find is the printouts, but nothing on how thick it should be

Yes, but don't forget that over half of the cost are for parts that you can reuse with the Mendel - electronics, motors, and plastic.

The stages (at least on Zach's original build) are 1/4" acrylic. You should be able to find scrap acrylic from a local glass shop for cheap.

For the Z-support Zach recommends 1/2" acrylic

i found some old acrylic thats going to work. as for the 1/2" i might just use MDF because i have that from an old project

Bob Morrison:
the funny part about cost and projects are, you know your going to spend 100 on the frame, 110 on the motors and plastic, 120 on the electronics. and 80 on other random things, so i never spent more then 150 at one spot. but once i add it all up. it clicks how much it is. maybe this is why Girlfriends allways thinks projects are too much money.

MDF works fine. I bought acrylic specially cut and it cost way more than I should have spent. Ironically, I ended up using MDF for my stages, and one sheet of Acrylic for my vertical base. Use whatever you have available...
